The Flower Festival Float

Ana the mermaid & Oliver the merman on the float for the Ribeira Grande Flower Festival

We had a flatbed truck and a few days. On the Thursday night we built a reef out of cardboard and hid lawn chairs inside it so people would have somewhere to sit. On the Friday we bent plant wire into waves, covered them in flowers, and painted a pirate ship for the back of the truck. On the Saturday we got into costume and rode it through the town.

Almost everything on that float was donated or borrowed. It was the first thing this group made together. Tiger wrote a longer account of that weekend on his Longevity Blog.
